Adding and deleting pages that exist within your website is easy with Virteom CMS - just check it out here. But what if you want a link to go out to a different website? Or to a PDF? That's a little bit less intuitive. In this how-to article, we'll go over how to link to external web pages in your navigation and how to link to documents. How to link to an external website First things first, you'll need to login to the back-end of your website. This is simply your domain URL with /virteom tagged on the end. (For example, ours is virteom.com) and then you enter /virteom after. To login to the back-end of our website, we'd type virteom.com/virteom.) On this screen, you'll enter your username and password Once you're logged in, click 'Site Pages' (if you're on Rocketsites) or 'Navigation' (if you're running Virteom CMS 8 and under) Once you're on the 'Site Pages' you'll see your entire website structure. To add an external link to your navigation, locate the 'Main' section and click the '+' next to it. A new window will popup and ask whether you're creating a New Page (Content), Directory, or a Link. Since you're linking out to an external website, click the 'Link' button. Once you click the 'Link' radio button, you will be able to enter the page name and paste in the external URL. In the
Virteom makes rolling back changes to your website incredibly easy. In the editor, simply use the sliding bar on the bottom of your screen. You will see the number of available versions that you can roll back, and can use the sliding bar to navigate through them. Virteom will store up to 50 versions of each page, creating a safety net in case you wish to change your design, or make accidental changes. The highest number is the most recent record. For example, you have five versions on a particular page. Let's say you want to reformat your page from version three, and try to branch out from the old layout. Simply navigate to this version, and begin making your changes. Once you hit save, it will be saved as record six. Q: Where do my other versions go if I do this? Won't I lose versions four and five? A: Do not worry. Your fourth and fifth versions are still saved and remain unchanged in case you wish to return to them at a later date. Q: Can I ever accidentally delete my page's version, or lose my progress? A: Keep in mind that while using the editor it is wise to save often. Also keep in mind Virteom can only hold 50 versions of each page. If you save every minute, after one hour you will have lost the first ten versions. Saving every ten minutes or so seems to work for most users, as pages typically don't get modified extensively in short time
As your site grows and changes over time, you may have the need to add or remove pages from it. The information below refers to adding an deleting normal web pages. To work with blog posts, see Adding and Editing Blog Posts. Adding a New Page To add a new page to your website, you must first decide where you want it to fall within the navigation. For example, if you want it to appear under the "About Us" menu, you need to add the page to the About Us section. The section where you want the new page to fall is called its "parent." There may be times when you want to add a page that does not appear within the navigation. For example, you may be creating a stand-alone landing page. In that case, you'll need to add the page to non-menu-related section. Depending on how your site is setup, you may have a section called "Hidden." If so, adding a new page to this section hides it from the navigation (but doesn't hide it from website visitors). If not, you can add the new page on the same level as your site's Home page. In other words, make "Home" the new page's parent. To add a new page: Once you've logged in click on 'Navigation' from the left hand panel On the right hand side you'll see all the pages on your website organized i
